Our Day of Knockout Noveling is almost upon us! Are you ready?

DOKN is our “big event” and associated fundraiser for the year. This year, DOKN is held on Saturday, November 22, at Jason’s Books & Coffee in Wyoming, Mich.

Here’s what you need to know:

• No RSVP or registration is required. No cost to attend. We will pass a donation jar for goodie drawings, which are completely optional. To offer a donation online, please visit https://www.wmauthors.net/donate/ to complete a one-time or recurring contribution.
• We have Wi-Fi and plenty of on-site parking. We’re adjacent to a stop for The Rapid’s route 44.
• Doors open at 10a and close at 6p. (Doors do NOT open at 9:30a, or even 9:59a.) Participants are welcome to come and go as they please.
• Everyone’s encouraged (but not required) to bring a potluck-style dish to pass. Please ensure that dishes are prepared before you arrive; we have power outlets available for things like crock-pot warmers, but we ask that you do not make/prepare your dish on-site.
• You’re also welcome to bring headphones, to dress comfortably, and to bring comfort objects like pillows.
• The bookstore will be open during DOKN, but no purchases are necessary.

Silent Auction

This year, we’re expanding our silent auction to use an electronic platform to allow for bidding and fulfillment. Our non-profit partner, Givebutter, offers auction capabilities. Here’s what you need to know:

• The auction is available at https://givebutter.com/c/wmaa-auction-2025/auction and it will run on Sat., Nov. 22, from 11a to 5p. (If you forget this link, we’ve created a shortcut at the main WMAA website’s top menu bar.)
• You do not need to be physically present at DOKN to bid or to win.
• We accept card payment through the system, or card/cash payments in person at the end of the auction — you’ll be prompted by email to pay for your winnings, at which time we’ll hand them over to you.
• You are welcome to bid anonymously through the platform.

• We’ve still got some write-ins on the tale. Join us tonight on Discord from 7p to 9p for the community write-in, and again on Sunday for Bob’s write-in. We’re in-person on Monday (5p-7p at Bluestocking) and Wednesday (6p to 8p at Panera/Grandville), and virtual on Tuesday with Tara from 6p to 8p. • The Winter Writer’s Conference is coming — mark your calendars fro Saturday, Jan. 17, from 9a to 3p.
